Create and Manage Issues in Kanban Board

Now that you are familiar with Kanban Board Basics we will take a look at how to create new issues in Kanban Board.
We will cover the following features:

    • How to create a new Issue
    • What information to provide
    • How to attach a resource
    • Clone functionality
    • Issue Comments
    • Tagging a person & Quoting a comment
    • How to use the markup tool

How to create a new Issue

  • Head over to the Kanban Board of your chosen model/federation
    If you need guidance, check the basics article
  • Click on the green ‘+‘ button to create a new Issue directly from the Kanban board

What information to provide

    1. Give the issue a Title.
    2. In the Properties tab, you can write additional text Description. Using the appropriate icons you can save, delete or modify it
    3. Click on Add Image to upload an image relevant to the Issue
    4. From the respective drop-down options, fill in the Priority, Status, Assign and Type corresponding to the Issue
    5. To set a Due datepick a day from the calendar and click OK
    6. Click on the Save icon to create the new Issue

How to Attach a Resource

Open an existing and head over to the Attachments tab:
Note that you can attach resources to existing issues, so if you are creating a new issue, save it first then open it to attach a resource.

    1. Click on Add resource to upload a document
    2. Files tab: click or drag and drop a file into the square box to upload
    3. If you’re clicking, choose the file and hit Open
    4. To remove that file, simply click on the circle ‘‘ button
    5. Don’t forget to hit the green Save button

    6. Links tab: to add a hyperlink
    7. Write a Resource title
    8. Type or paste the URLYou can remove it by hitting the ‘‘ button
    9. Click on Add Link for more resources
    10. Hit Save when done
    11. Click on the quotation mark icon to quote resource as a link
    12. This link automatically appears in the Comments section
    13. Hit the green Send icon to communicate it with the team

Clone functionality

Should you ever need to duplicate an issue, use the Clone button.
If you ever encounter an issue to an existing one and do not want to fill out all of the information again, this is when you should use it.

Note that you can also view the issue in the model viewer by clicking on the ‘View on Model icon

  1. Click on the Clone button to duplicate the Issue
  2. A window ‘Add new issue‘ will pop up in which you can review the pre-filled information or edit it
  3. Don’t forget to hit the Save button

Issue Comments

  1. Write your comment in the chat-like dialogue section to communicate with other users in your team
  2. Hit the Image icon to upload an image to the chat
  3. Hit the Save button to send your comment
  4. To delete the comment, simply click on the Remove button
    Note that it only works for your latest comment
  5. In the drop-down options under Show

    You may choose to show:

    • only Comments

    • only System Logs (changes to the issue)

    • All (both)

Tagging a person & Quoting a comment

    • Quote what you or another user have previously written
    • Tag a specific user you’re addressing the comment to by typing an @ followed by their username

How to use the markup tool

The Markup feature in 3D Repo is ideal for highlight specific elements/issues, add text, shapes or revision clouds in different colours and line weights.
You can use the markup tool when creating a new issue or adding a comment to an existing one.

Adding a Markup from Kanban Board without opening the Model 

  1. Click on the Upload image button to choose a file already saved locally
  2. Pick the image you wish to edit in the window that pops up and click Open

  3. The markup will appear as a Screenshot in a window where you can highlight specific items. Don’t forget to hit Save
  4. Hit Save to communicate it with your team. You can also click on the markup to review or edit changes
  5. Click on the X button should you wish to remove the markup from the conversation

Adding a Markup from the model viewer 

  1. Click on View Model to open the Issue in the Model Viewer

  2. Click on the Screenshot icon to create a markup
  3. A window will appear in which you can draw on the image.
    Hit Save to add it to your comment
  4. The Comments section will update and include this markup.
    Click on the image if you wish to modify it further
  5. Click the Save Icon to submit your comment.
    The message ‘Issue Comment Added’  will pop up
  6. Click on to remove it
