London, 22 October 2018 – The sixth 3D Repo British Information Modelling event attracted more than 70 delegates from across the built environment industry. This bi-annual evening seminar and networking event was hosted by renowned engineering consultancy Arup and it took place at their global headquarters in London on Monday 15th October at the start of Digital Construction Week.
At the British Information Modelling event speakers from international contractor Mace and engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald shared the stage with start-ups Aphex, Converge and 3D Repo. All were expertly chaired by Graham Aldwinkle, Associate Director at Arup. The event concluded with questions from the floor and a lively panel discussion which focused on open systems and integrated data.
The eagerly-awaited SafetiBase, an online platform for the tracking and analysis of health and safety issues, was also debuted. SafetiBase is a new cloud-based repository which uses existing best of breed solutions, including 3D Repo’s award-winning platform for Building Information Modelling (BIM), to improve risk management.
Supported by a consortium of leading innovators in the infrastructure sector, including Atkins, Mott MacDonald, Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Costain, Vinci, Bentley Systems, UCL, HS2, Tideway and The IET through the Knowledge Transfer Network and I3P, SafetiBase improves the communication and visualisation of health, safety and welfare risks saving projects time and money.
“This was a busy week in the built environment sector with lots of events, so we were pleased to have such an impressive turnout at the sixth British Information Modelling event,” commented Jozef Dobos, CEO of 3D Repo and speaker at the event. “As usual the speakers were informative and engaging and I am sure the debate about open systems continued long after the seminar finished.”
“The team behind SafetiBase, including 3D Repo, is also really pleased with the response from the industry both from delegates at the seminar and visitors to the DCW exhibition,” he continued. “It would appear that risk management and mitigation remain one of the biggest challenges for construction projects and SafetiBase will provide a structured, connected yet simple to use solution.”
3D Repo was also present at Digital Construction Week, with 5 members of staff welcoming guests on a stand at the ExCel London in Canary Wharf. Product Manager Pavol Knapo hosted a BIM for the Brave workshop and CEO Dr Jozef Dobos spoke on a panel about “The Transforming Construction Challenge”.

Notes to Editors
3D Repo is a multi-award-winning company offering a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the cloud. Instead of architects, consultants and contractors sharing massive proprietary files in a costly and time consuming manner, they can simply point their web browser to an encrypted knowledge base in order to examine each project stage virtually.
With 3D Repo, users can manage model revisions and highlight potential issues using live collaboration tools, which allow the whole project team to work from a single source of truth. More than 40 different 3D file formats are decomposed and federated in the company’s big data repository. Additionally, the project knowledge base can be accessed via VR giving a live experience which has applications in Health and Safety training and client experiences.
3D Repo also includes patent pending technology to identify real-time changes and clashes in 3D models. By comparing the actual geometry of a model rather than underlying, software specific object IDs or labels, 3D Diff Change Detection can identify changes between models from different sources. 3D Diff Clash Detection automatically highlights intersections, and therefore potential conflicts, between different types of models.
The 3D Repo team has collaborated on a number of large scale projects with companies such as ARUP, Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Crossrail and Canary Wharf Contractors. https://3drepo.com/
