Progress Tracking & Data Analytics with 3D Repo

By 19th June 2019March 8th, 2021Announcements

Democratising data

The 3D Repo platform democratises BIM data, making it available for all stakeholders. Via 3D Repo’s API, users can link their data to powerful business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Node-RED, and Dynamo. These tools make it easy for anyone to understand project data, get insights on issues, health and safety concerns, progress tracking, and ultimately, to make better-informed decisions.

Microsoft Power BI is a business intelligence tool that lets users visualise their data and insights and share them with people across their organisation. Simply connect 3D Repo and Power BI via APIs to begin analysing model data in no time. From there, users can produce stunning interactive visualisations including live dashboards and reports which can be used for monitoring performance and making data-backed informed decisions.

Node-RED is a flow-based programming tool for wiring together hardware devices, APIs and online services. Node-RED provides a browser-based flow editor, which can be used to create JavaScript functions. Elements of applications can be saved or shared for re-use. The runtime is built on Node.js and the flows created in Node-RED are stored using JSON.

3D Repo users are able to connect their data and explore new workflows using 3D Repo’s APIs for model checking, analysis, and data mining. Here are some example workflows:

Group By Property / Node-RED

Data Validation / Node-RED

Issues Report / Node-RED

Dynamo is a visual programming tool that allows users to create custom scripts by manipulating graphic elements called “nodes” and was created so that even non-programmers can use them.

Utilising tools like Dynamo in conjunction with 3D Repo lets you perform tasks such as:

  • Resolve Issues or Health & Safety concerns by linking 3D Repo information to a Revit model.
  • Update model elements or multiple drawings with the click of a button.
  • Open your project in 3DRepo and download the JSON file.
